Ph.D. candidate in engineering at the Tokyo Institute of Technology
Educated in California for his undergraduate studies, Hiroshi Hara is a doctoral student of social engineering at Tokyo Institute of Technology whose research interests lie in China’s public policy, local governance, civil society dynamics, and environmental politics. He was a former visiting researcher, from 2014 to 2015, at School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University in Beijing. During his stay at Tsinghua, he was admitted to present his working-research for renowned Graduate Seminar on China organized by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. That competed research paper was presented as “State-led Governance for the Third Sector in China: Incubating NGOs for Public Interests”, at International Society for Third Sector Research (ISTR) Asia Pacific Regional Conference, September 2015.
